New Liverpool City Region Apprenticeship Hub Ambassador Network...

The LCR Apprenticeship Hub is in the process of finalising its new combined Apprentice and Employer Ambassador Network, due to go live in November 2018! This unique network will be new to the region engaging both employers and apprentices from the same organisation who, with the support of the Apprenticeship Hub, will work together in guiding and influencing employers, schools, providers and residents within the City Region in creating and employing apprentices. They will highlight the numerous opportunities apprenticeships bring including progression to Advanced and Higher Level Apprenticeships, whilst also supporting the aspiration to deliver 20,000 Apprenticeships per annum by 2020.

The new Ambassadors will be recruited to ensure alignment with the LCR priority growth sectors. The Employer Ambassadors will be enriched with a wealth of local regional knowledge through attendance at new Industry Exchange days, where good practice can be exchanged and insight into other businesses can be gained. Apprentice Ambassadors’ knowledge will be enriched through gaining a wider view point of the skills and employment opportunities within the region both now and in the future.

Olivia Weston, a long standing LCR Apprentice Ambassador, explains her view on the value of the Ambassador Network.

“The Apprenticeship Ambassador network has really helped me over the last four years, from being able to develop good friendships with other apprentices to being able to discuss the positive aspects and challenges of apprenticeships with others.  In my previous apprenticeship, the programme was delivered through a distance learning model so I didn’t get to meet any other apprentices on my programme- this is where being a part of the Apprenticeship Ambassador Network has really helped me. I would say it has also helped me to develop my confidence, especially in public speaking. Whilst I am not shy, I often get nervous speaking in front of strangers and being able to speak in front of a group of students has really boosted my confidence. I have since been asked by my manager to speak in front of the whole team here that I work with.” Olivia Weston, LCR Apprentice Ambassador, The Engineering College
