Apprenticeships in the Health & Social Care Sector

Liverpool City Region Combined Authority (LCRCA) Skills Broker team held a free to attend event on Friday 17th May 2019, at Liverpool Football Club titled Apprenticeships: Collaborative approaches to Recruitment and Training in the Health & Social Care Sector

Guest speakers on the day included Karen Caffrey, Chairperson of Liverpool Home Care Providers CIC, Paul Smyth, Apprenticeship Lead at Aintree University Hospital, and Mikaela Williams-Brown, Liverpool Social Care Partnership. The event focussed on ways in which health and social care providers can work together to recruit, train and retain staff with the ultimate aim of establishing a supply chain of candidates which will benefit both healthcare and social care providers. The event also considered how the development of a structured Health & Social Care Apprenticeship model across the Liverpool City Region could provide a meaningful career pathway into the health and social care sector for young people or those seeking a change of career.

The LCRCA Skills Brokerage team were on hand to support employers in identifying appropriate apprenticeship pathways for both new and existing staff. There were also opportunities for networking with employers and LCR training providers.
